Hurry up, you're making me latte! It is said that Italian Espresso was born in Naples. Coffee is so important there that some people pay in advance coffees that can be later claimed for free by the less fortunate: a wonderful local tradition known as caffé sospeso.
local - cool - café
Hold your hands up if you have a sweet tooth. W're guilty too! The espresso is served zuccherato (with sugar) so request it amaro if you fancy a bitter hit.
CAFFE DEL PROFESSORE
café - cool - cozy
It serves 60 different types of coffee - we didn't even know that many existed! If you don’t know which to pick, go for one of the house specialties: caffè alla nocciola (hazelnut coffee) or caffè al cioccolato (chocolate coffee).
café - historical - tradition
Run by brothers, it’s one of the city’s ‘must sees.’ Crowded with tourists, also local writers and politicians love it. It’s THE literary salon in town!
GRAN CAFFE LA CAFFETTERIA
café - artsy - local
Set in one of Naples’ most beautiful squares, this café has an amazing collection of Neapolitan stovetop caffettiere. It almost feels like a museum!
café - local - tradition
Perfect spot for coffee or tea time. A bit noisy (as you can imagine), but definitely one of the best café to experience the local atmosphere. Taste their biscotti all’amaretto!
