TOP BEER GARDENS

SEEHAUS

Hip - friends - elegant - draught beer

Nestled in the middle of the English Garden, next to the lake, this place is just perfect if you’re looking for something fancy and chic. A plus? Its elegant outdoor bar, which serves champagne, wine and cocktails, as well as the young cool crowd.

WALDWIRTSCHAFT GROßHESSELOHE

Hip - friends - lively - jazz music

On a cliff overlooking the valley of the Isar river, this spot, also known as “WaWi”, is quieter than the other options. Beloved by politicians and local celebs, it’s an out of the ordinary beer garden. Here, in fact, you’ll have the chance to enjoy Jazz and Swing music played by talented bands.

AUMEISTER

Local - friends - cosy - draught beer

A classic for a “Münchner”, this traditional beer garden has a very cosy and charming atmosphere. Surrounded by the beautiful trees of an English Garden, it offers great local and Mediterranean food. Don’t miss out on “Käsespätzle”, a typical Bavarian vegetarian dish!

ST. EMMERAMSMÜHLE

Local - families - easy-going - draught beer

Set in a former mill, this historical “biergarten” lies at the Northeast edge of the English Garden. Great Bavarian cuisine, with a modern twist. Ideal for young families with children.

BIERGATEN VIKTUALIENMARKT

Hip - friends - lively - draught beer

Located in the heart of Munich, right in the middle of the “Vinktulienmarkt” (the food market), this spot attracts a mixed crowd of locals and tourists. Always very busy, it serves every six weeks a different beer from one of the city’s famous breweries. Grab your food from one of the surrounding food stalls and enjoy it on your table with a mug of beer.

HIRSCHGARTEN

Local - friends - rustic - draught beer

With 8,000 seats under enormous chestnut trees, this beer garden is the largest in the world. I highly recommend the “steckerlfisch”, that is grilled fish on a stick. Don’t be surprised if before leaving you have to wash your beer mug yourself, that’s the tradition here!

PARK CAFE

Local - business - lively - draught beer

You can find this beer garden in Munich’s old Botanical Garden. During the week, it’s crowded with office workers, while in the weekends it attracts young partygoers. In the winter, it turns into an area for curling. Don’t worry, if you are not a fan of this sport, you can grab a hot drink in one of its outdoor huts!

Beers, traditional food and music. Bring these ingredients together and you have the perfect “biergarten”. Discover the ones you can’t miss out through our German insider Antje, a proud “Münchner” since 2002. Prost!
